By the end of Year 5, the children will have been taught:
- formal written methods of addition and subtraction of both whole numbers and decimals
- formal written method of multiplication of up to a 4-digit by 2-digit calculation
- formal written method of division with a single digit divisor
- multiplication and division of whole numbers and decimals by 10, 100 and 1000
- recognition of square and cubed numbers and the notation necessary
- addition, subtraction and multiplication of fractions
- finding non-unit fractions of amounts
