VIPERS
In Year 5, we base the teaching of reading on 'VIPERS'. Each reading lesson focusses on one of the following skills: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval or summarising. We look at identifying the VIPER in questions and understanding how to approach an answer for that type of question.

The following document outlines our 'reading spine' for Year 5 children at Yorkswood. This list is designed to show the books that our children will be exposed to or have access to during reading sessions throughout the year.
These are a selection of books that we enjoy in Year 5. They are a mixture of guided reading, literacy and class read books.
