Maths is taught every morning in Year 1. We use the Power of maths scheme of work alongside White Rose to deliver the mastery approach. Children are encouraged to use their individual maths equipment (concrete resources) to model and demonstrate their learning in various ways and to show their methods when problem solving.

 

We also ensure children are fact fluent (knowing facts mentally) by the end of KS1 and these are assessed half termly.

Autumn 1 - Adding 1

Autumn 2 - Doubles to 10

Spring 1 - Adding 2

Spring 2 - Number bonds to 10

Summer 1 - Doubles to 20

Summer 2 - Adding 10

Below is the link to see examples of the types of questions the children will be tested on along with the Key Instant Recall Facts they will be doing in Year 2. Children will be required to be fact fluent in all of these areas by the end of KS1.
