At Yorkswood Primary School we teach our Design and Technology curriculum through engaging and interesting projects. 

In Early Years, we safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function.  We share our creations, explaining the process we have used. We make use of props and materials when role playing characters in narratives and stories 

In Key Stage 1, we explore and build structures.  We learn about materials and how to join them. We learn about healthy meals and prepare healthy food. 

In Key Stage 2,  we learn more about the evaluating products for form and function and we plan products with an end user in mind.  We develop practical making skills through projects that include building structures, making products, using electrical elements and sewing. We learn about where food comes from, seasonality and more about preparing and cooking healthy foods.
