Spellings are taught in differentiated groups across years 5 and 6. Twice a week, children move around school to their designated teacher where spellings are taught in a systematic approach based on the ability of the individual children.
During literacy lessons, the children have access to the statutory spellings for years 3/4 and years 5/6 to assist with their writing. These lists can be seen below.
Each half term, we focus on a different skill during lesson starters, SPAG lessons and registration activities. At the end of each half term, we complete an assessment to see how successfully the skills have been learnt.
