Computing Intent

At Yorkswood Primary, we want children to realise the full potential of technology; it is all around us and will play a pivotal part in their lives. We want to educate our children on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely, whilst also helping them to discover how it can be used outside of the school day. We want our children to be creators as well as consumers and therefore we encourage the use of technology throughout all areas of our broad curriculum to increase enjoyment, enhance the learning and ensure accessibility and inclusion for all. We aim to give children the opportunity to learn a variety of skills and techniques to aid them on their journey to become skillful computer scientists. By the end of the children’s journey with us, we want them to be fluent with a range of tools to best express their understanding as well as having the independence and confidence to choose the best tool to fulfil tasks and challenges that they face.
